The Slumpbuster

Over the winter I purchased John Barr's fly tying book , I like his patterns especially the Slumpbuster.
This is one of most versatile flies I have fished , right up there with the Bugger and it's variants .What I like About the Slumpbuster is the fact that it comes alive in the water , the silhouette and movement looks like a bait fish or a leach. I have been tying the fly from size 4 down  to 10   in a number of colors including  Black ,Olive ,Natural and Wine  all have worked well.
The smaller  Slumpbusters  have been shaking up the lakes , fish are fooled by it's leach -Dragon Fly Nymph  like looks , in rivers no doubt the trout look at it as a Leach or Sculpin . Smaller flies are tied with bead heads  and the larger with Tungsten cones .The Slumpbuster has become  my go-to Streamer of choice,  fish it and find out why .
