When the dam breaks, you feed the undesirables to Tuesday.

The fish remaining in the lake most likely would not survive being transported to another lake, "and even if we could, most are carp," the VP said. "Where would we put them? Most urban lakes are always looking for ways to get rid of carp."

So what do you do? Feed them to alligators, of course. Duh.

...and the rest of the fish were washed to a dry grave when most of the 3,065 acre-feet of water blasted down the usually dry Salt River wash bed.

I can only imagine there was a Phoenician opportunist downstream somewhere furiously stripping a crayfish pattern through the muddy deluge hoping to become a legend when he pins some poor confused bastard large mouth bass where no fisherman has gone before.

I will be the guy wading around in the mud rigged to the teeth loading up on my roughfish hero shots.

In the end, it's just one less fishy place in this damn desert, at least for a couple years.

More story here and here.

Like a frightened turtle....

Yea, so that happened. It has been many moons since I accidentally fell into a lake, and I didn't miss the experience much. That was a steep ass rock, and before I knew it I was nipple deep, and it was a little cold.

Aaron was a pal and only laughed when I fell in, while I was trying to climb my fat-ass back out, and any time he heard the 'squish squish' of my wet-butt. I told him that a real friend would jump in the lake too, but he didn't go for it.

Shrinkage aside we kicked some stockers asses, and the Rainbow Reservator proved itself a worthy fly, bringing in all but one of my fish for the day.

It was also a good time to try out another one of Dane's furled leaders. (DF Furled Leaders) It was a 6' dry fly taper furled with 6/0 Uni-Thread, in the GP trout taper. I added 2 feet of 3x, then 18" of 6x to my dry fly, then another 18" to the nymph. The leader was a rocket, and had no problem turning over all 12 feet, and I only had to reapply floatant once during 7 hours of fishing.

The road to Rose Canyon is now open. This means that every weekend the lake will inevitably be lined with massive amounts of people. Children screaming, dogs barking, powerbait being applied to treble hooks with reckless abandon while stringers are filled with stock trout that will most likely never see a frying pan or the inside of an oven, and will spend the next 2 years growing frost in a freezer before they are thrown away. And there is no reason for that. But I was glad that I didn't have to walk my wet ass up bitch hill.

Do women know about shrinkage?

Got that nasty stomach flu? Time for some wet wading.

I was lying in bed this morning, and I knew there was something wrong. There was a quiet whisper in the nether regions of trouble, the air thick with anticipation of revolution. But I was still tired, half asleep, and didn’t heed the warning.

I felt a fart brewing and in my sleepdrunk state I rolled over, gambled a 50/50, and lost. The day has gone downhill from there.

I don’t have a laptop, and every second I stay out of the bathroom the danger grows. I am mainlining pepto, and snorting tums in an attempt to remain free from the water closet clutches just long enough to finish this thought.

I wish I lived near a river.

If you were watching Comcast cable, you got Cox:

I usually try to stick to fishing and drinking topics.... but this is too much! With 2:48 left in the 4th quarter Comcast cable watchers here in Tucson got a little more "action" than they bargained for when a porno clip interrupted their touchdown replay. Read about it:
