Female Gambles Quail and a G.Lewis 16 Gauge |
After arriving home a week ago I finally got out with 9 of the dogs .It was fun for all of us .
I was impressed by the amount of Gambles and Scaled Quail covey's we saw ,and I was not impressed with my shooting . The Dogs did well, Hilda ,Reba and Roxy where the first trio and they did a good job on a covey of Gambles .Next was Buddy ,Okie and Slick who found 1 covey of Scaled Quail and 2 Coveys of Gambles and finally Cruz , Sam and Spot found 1 covey of Blues. Each trio ran 1 loop for an hour , they are all now exhausted as they ran hard and now have to adjust to the Desert ,for some this was their first time .Dog work was classic Gambles & Scaled Quail action call it bits and pieces. Points and relocates followed by the Covey eventually jumping up then go to work on the singles and pairs .Fun stuff .
I think we would have found more birds however considering we did not show up until 10 ,aired dogs and putzed around until 11 ,had a nice peaceful lunch and chilled ,we did alright ,again not much to show for it but the dogs sure had fun. No Point pics ,I was to busy missing !
