Highland Lakes, CA
I've seen the board has been kinda slow. Thought I would share some photo's from a camping trip to Highland Lakes during the Fourth of July where we caught several trout. The North Fork of the Mokelumne River flows from lower Highland Lakes and provides challenging fishing as well.

Casting Shadows
Beware of Spooking the Trout!!! One of the first lessons a fly fisher must learn is to "NOT" cast shadows. I just thought this would make a cool photo.
Gibbon River Photo
Gibbon River along the Grand Loop in October. One of my favorite photos showing the contrast between the green, brown and blue.
Better Fly Fishing Photos
I came across this article from Backpacker.com called Backpacker Photo School: Better Fly Fishing Photos. I hope these tips help when you are out on the water.
Remember to submit your fly fishing photos, videos, and reports to the Virtual Fly Guides Bulletin Board. Once they are submitted, they will be featured on the VFG Blog.

Lees Ferry, AZ Photography
Sometimes when fly fishing, you stumble upon things that catch your eye. I snapped this photo of barrel cactus blooms just below Glen Canyon Dam at Lees Ferry. The fishing was good too!

Wildlife Photography 101
My hope on this fly fishing trip was to get a photo of a bison covered in snow. I got my wish. What I didn't plan on was the reflection on the snowflakes. I know it's an amateur mistake, but it still worked for me.
Trout Creek Bend
One of our favorite photos taken of Trout Creek Bend in the Hayden Valley, Yellowstone National Park. This tributary to the Yellowstone River is closed to fishing in an attempt to preserve the natural habitat of the native Yellowstone Cutthroat. Photo taken in late June 2008.
Fishing & Photography
On the water I carry an 8.1 mega pixel Sony Cyber-Shot "point and shoot." It's user-friendly, but has many functions for the more advanced picture taker. It's not waterproof but can handle a splatter of water once in a while. The picture of the High Sierra mountains (upper right) was taken with my Sony Cyber-Shot.
I also have a

The picture of the red thistle (above left) was taken with my Nikon D-40 after a day of fishing on Wolf Creek in northern California's Alpine County.
So, if you love fly-fishing consider adding photography to your hobby. You will be enriched greatly. Back away from the water for a little while and you will find stunning landscapes, beautiful flowers and wildlife.
Click here to see some of the pictures I've taken while on fly-fishing trips at the Virtual Fly Guides Facebook Page.
Additionally, whether you are a Nikon enthusiast or not, you will find Ken Rockwell's website very helpful. Check him out at http://www.kenrockwell.com.
Make sure you post your pics of fish and scenery, and your fishing reports, on the Virtual Fly Guides bulletin board http://tinyurl.com/yhsgtye.

I'm a trendy kinda guy, so I think I will....
Right? Yea, bro. That's totally legit, bro. Totally legit. I mean, if it doesn't look like someone ate it, shat it out and ran it over with show chains it would be totally less legit... Bro.
