East Carson River Was Insane!

Fished the East Carson River this Monday & Tuesday and was NOT disappointed! 20" to 23" 'bows taking #14 Olive Sparkle Duns like a kid chomping Candy Corn at Halloween. Once they got used to that pattern, simply switched to a #8 brown sparkle Wooley Bugger stripped real fast right through them. Then, hold on!

Decided to demo the Winston 9'-5wt Boron IIx to see how it would perform on larger trout with shoulders. This awesome rod met all expectations and then some. Its the beautiful Winston feel, with a new, updated action. Light, responsive and enough muscle to fight BIG fish in a bad mood. Paired the rod with Rio Gold line that appeared to work very well with throwing smaller size drys to relatively larger strip leeches in some canyon wind.

Check out the rod specs here and go out to your Bay area Leland shop and try one:

And, by all means, get yourself out to the East Carson River before another "River Runs Through It" premieres and fills up this great stretch of water!

Tight lines....
