VFG Fly Fishing Journal Day 5

September 30, 2009

Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, near Lake City, CO

The day began with a change. Overnight, a storm blew in with rain and snow in the high country. We were a little slow getting on the road and didn't start fishing until 10:30 am. On the way to Burrows Park, we spotted the cow moose we saw yesterday. We took some photos through the aspens and brush. I had Sean climb on my shoulders to get a better view. After the "Wild Kingdom" moment, we drove up to Burrows which is on the way to Cinnamon Pass. It started snowing and winds kicked up to 40-50 mph and gusting even higher. IT WAS SO COLD! The weather made casting and catching a challenge. We were able to land about 30 Brookies between us. After a chilly day, we broke for lunch and admired the gorgeous scenery and the powerful weather at 11,000 feet.
