VFG Fly Fishing Journal Day 8

October 3, 2009 (Travel Day)

Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, near Lake City, CO

Our last day. The morning began early, around 6 am. We rushed around finishing some last minute packing and loading up the truck. Our plan was to visit Lake City Bakery and take advantage of their second to last open day this year. The owners close for the winter and take a 5 week break before opening up their Crested Butte bakery. We loaded up with coffee, breakfast burritos, and donuts. A well rounded breakfast which include the three major food groups for fly fishers. The end of our trips are always a batch of mixed feelings. We look forward to returning to home and family, but miss the rivers, mountains, fish and especially our second family, the File's.

Dan and Ruthanne File in American Basin

A very special thanks go to Dan, Ruthanne, and Danny File. The File's were once again wonderful, gracious hosts. We are overwhelmed each and every time we visit. This trip was no exception. May God bless your family and we hope and pray our next visit is very soon.
