Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, near Lake City, CO
In an attempt to fly fish different water, we drove down river to the bridge above Lake San Cristobol. We hiked down to the inlet of the lake and fished back to the bridge. As we began, it was still in the 20's and we frequently had to break the ice from our guides. There were many places that looked good and we could see a handful of fish. But in the end, the fish had the upper hand (or I should say "fin"). Sean and Dad were able to land a few each, with Erik and Darin hooking up and losing a few fish. We lunched along the river and then fished upriver about a mile. The afternoon was a carbon copy as the morning. We enjoyed this section of the river and plan to return. Hopefully the trout will be more accepting next time.
